Math, Science students to make annual trek to Six Flags

Each year, New Deal's Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Physics classes go to Six Flags in Arlington, Texas.  Seniors Casey Bigham, Stephanie Campos, Landon Scoggins, Patty Delgado, Victoria Navarro, Ashley reynolds, Shawn Mele, John Ward, Courtney Jackson, Shawndi Kubica, Mikal Mayo, Ron Miller, Justin Mowray, Devin Carr, and juniors Jarrett Coggin, Charles Austin, Erin Tully, and Krystle Webb will be joined by Physics and Calculus teacher Mr. Kyle Conatser and Pre-Calculus teacher Mr. Rocky Upchurch and their families.  The students and sponsors are going to be leaving early on the morning of Friday, May 13th, and will return Saturday afternoon.
The students will be going to the amusement park to experiment on various rides, with emphasis on the roller coasters.  They will be working with concepts such as momentum, speed, acceleration, forces, potential energy , and kinetic energy.  they will apply the concepts by taking measurements before and during the rides, and afterwards they will use formulas to find out results.
"This experience benefits students of math and science by enriching the standard curriculum," math/science teacher Mr. Kyle Conatser said.  "It is also a nice way to reward students' hard work in these advanced courses."
