Introduction
This
lesson is designed to bring awareness to the discovery of the structure of the
DNA molecule and to promote the celebration of the day the Nobel Prize winning
article was published in NATURE.
During the lesson, your students will look inside this amazing
molecule. They will discover the 3D
shapes of the constituent parts of the molecule, how these parts fit together,
and how this molecule reproduces the information that it carries.
Students
will also discover the researchers that brought DNA to life, through their
research. They will also read the
original article that was published in 1953.
Students
will also plan their own DNA Day celebration, and discover what day to hold the
party on. They will design a model or
Power Point of the DNA molecule that will be displayed at the celebration.
